Finally got my Volant

Okay, after a couple weeks of backorder, I finally got the Volant Intake -- the cool air snake is still on backorder. I went out right away and started the install. The Titan's intake was slick-as-snot to take out, the easiest I've done yet -- the Frontier's stock intake came out after lots of coaxing and in many parts! Anyway, after the fact, I am happy with the performance of the Volant, but the install... geesh. I don't how many times I said to myself "I wish I had bought the K&N" because I have always used K&N intakes before and the directions and indications were wonderful. Nevertheless, Volant's one picture of the fully installed system did give me enough info to do it and there weren't many parts anyway.

For those people with one still on backorder and awaiting it, one piece of advice I can give is to the diameter reducer piece (from intake to TB). It is that rubber funny spelling sleeve piece. Anyway, make sure you put in the clothes dryer or something for a few minutes so it can stretch around the intake, otherwise you'll go nuts and curse a lot in front of the neighbors.

Anybody else have the Volant with the cold air snake? Like I said I am still awaiting mine, but I am hoping I goes in without having to uninstall the intake!

I installed my Volant today - It showed up on Wednesday - new from Aj's. Install was trouble free excpet for the rubber reducer - I soaked mine in very hot water & that did the trick - the sidewall fit is not any exact match with the original opening in the frender - but it is really close off about an inch - performance was sweet on a trial run -I disconnected the battery for tonight to reset the ECU.

volant / kn problems

even the drop-in replacement filters are a hazard toi your maf and computer.
i first bought the volant and ram air scoop. it did not come with ANY instructions and did not bolt up to the factory intake etc. it was way too short and the ram air scoop fell out onto the driveway when we installed it. i also bought the k&n aircharger with drycharger wrap and it messed my computer up anbd made the service engine soon light come on immediately and i took it back to the dealer and they said it messed uyp my pcm settings and by disc. the neg terminal it would not make it return to the orig stock settings. on older models it would do that but def not on the 2004 titans. anyway, i settled for a drop in fram air hog and a banks exhaust and mobil 1 5w-30 super-syn.
it costs me 84.51 to have the pcm reprogrammed and put back to the stock orig settings. the k&n made my engine cough and choke and the engine would not stay running, OUCH!
avoid both kits as they tried to also void my warranty and called most of the dealers in my area and told them about me switching intakes!!!
pretty low down!

I got mine last week for $221.00 including free shipping. The install was not that great and I also swore that I should have gotten a K&N at the time.

Luckily my dealer does look to get out of warranty repairs for AM parts as they replaced my friends MAF sensor under warranty even though he had an intake on his Maxima.

The GM at my dealership wants a ride in my truck with the Banks & Volant on to see if he wants to do the same.

I like my Volant. The fitment is HORRIBLE but it works better than OEM for making power and it sounds ferocious. Also, it is 50 state smog legal (k&n is not) and Volant guarantees that it won't void your warranty. I will tell you that the second that AEM (advanced engine management) puts out one of their Brute Force cold air intakes for the Titan, I will tear out the Volant so quickly your head will spin.
My dealership also does NOT try to weasle out of repairs due to aftermarket aspiration add-ons like intakes and exhaust systems.

dcrobt...if after installing either kit, the engine won't stay running, it is most likely due to the MAF installed backwards. Did you check to see if this is the case? Also, I threw a check engine light after installing my exhaust. I just disconnected negative terminal and let the ECU reset for about 24 hours and the trouble code went away, no problems since. My truck runs better then ever and get better MPG.

Just a thought.
