Well it happened. I EVER SO SLOOOOOOWLY slid into the center of a friends new Sierra 4X4 this morning (1" of fresh snow over sheet of ice), with my passengers side front bumper corner. Luckily I did no damage to his truck other than cracking his plate frame. My bumper corner caved in a bit but no big deal. I called the dealer and ordered the piece myself. It's $48 plus whatever their shop charges to paint it (probably around $50), and I'll put it on myself.
I'm glad this piece folded up as easily as it did...otherwise I'd be paying for his truck too. :teethmast

Hey Guys-

Could any of you help a fellow Titan owner out and describe how to take the bumper cover off? I also added alittle "character" to my truck and would like to remove the passenger cover and replace it with a new one. Thanks in advance!

First you have to remove the grille. Then you have to remove the headlight assembly. Then you can remove the 3 fasteners holding the top of the bumper cover on. Then there is one fastener to remove at the bottom of the cover toward the middle the bumper and one screw at the outer edge. Then there are two fasteners behind the cover that push into the bumper to hold the cover firm. These are located next to the bumper grill opening. You can see these if you look at the back side of the bumper. The new cover will come with enough new fasteners to replace two covers.

I know that it sounds difficult, but you can have the grille, headlight and cover off in aout 15-30 minutes. It's actually really easy to do.

If you do a search you can find threads that describe how to remove the grille and headlight.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I paid $40 for my new cover and $97 to have it painted.

Shortcuts shortcuts shortcuts! I didn't have to remove ANYTHING to get that cover off. There are two fasteners on the bottom that just screw off. Now lay under the fenderwell...look up to where there are 3 screw-clips that fasten the top portion of the cover to the metal bumper. Using something small but blunt like a rachet extention, simply push the plastic screw from the bottom, reach up and pull it out along with the base. Very easy and fast. I had it off (once I figured it out) in 5 minutes. Also remember to unclip the fog light connection if you have them.
I was able to heat the piece with a blow dryer and push it out but there are a couple deep scrapes and the paint cracked because of bending. It looks 100% better for now. Once I get the piece, I'll just replace it.

I was also amazed by how cheap that part was. I was also amazed to see that the fog light is actually mounted solely on that plastic corner piece! I would have thought it was mounted to the metal bumper so it wouldn't wobble while driving but....it does the trick I guess.

How long did it take you to "figure it out"? Hour and a half, four hours? :jester: Just kidding.

The back side of my headlight got busted up anyway, so I wasn't looking for shortcuts around headlight removal. GREAT idea though.

Part of the headlight assembly mounts to the front of the fender (or should I say that the fender mounts to the headlight), so a "crunch" to the front corner could (and did) cost you (or me) a $300 headlight assembly.

Didn't take too long. I couldn't figure out how to get the headlight out so I improvised. lol...worked out good.

BigRed and Hudson Thanks for the How To's!!! Just got back from Daytona, FL(Bike Week). Watched the Daytona races and saw some really nice bikes and trucks. Looks like I'll be using the shortcut method. :futwice:
